Global Warming Proponents: Money-Hungry, Narcissists

// December 5th, 2009 // No Comments » // society in general

Have you been following the debacle that is Global Warming? In the late 70’s, scientists scared the world into believing we had Global Cooling, and since, we have been told by scientists and scam-artists liberals like Al Gore that we are ruining the earth and it is heating up.

Well, it appears that they –global warming scientists and liberals– are starting to be exposed for what they really are: money-hungry narcissists. This whole Global Warming ruse is nothing but a ploy to force taxes and carbon-emission credits (Cap-and-Trade) on the world, forcing them to fork out trillions of dollars to line the pockets of these scum scam-artists.

The sad part? The mainstream media (MSM) has yet to catch on and MSNBC just, as of the last couple days, started reporting on this falacy. CNN has yet to catch on and it seems they will fight to the bitter end to support the liberals and their lackeys.

Read for yourself. I’ve listed a few of the Climategate articles. There are none from CNN, ABC, CBS, or MSNBC, not because I didn’t look, but because there weren’t any.

Copenhagen will fail – and quite right too

UN panel promises to investigate leaked ‘climategate’ e-mails (This one cracks me up. You have a corrupt Entity investigating it’s own cash-cow. Yeah, that’s going to end up with something useful. But hey, at least they used the word ‘Climategate’ –giving it validity.)

Climategate: the final nail in the coffin of ‘Anthropogenic Global Warming’? (I had to look up the word Anthropogenic too.)

Why You Should Be Hot and Bothered About ‘Climate-gate’

Americans Skeptical of Science Behind Global Warming

After reading all of the above, take a look at Al Gore’s website. It will make you want to laugh, at the audacity, and puke at the same time.

Features of a Banana Republic

// December 4th, 2009 // No Comments » // society in general

Read these and tell me what current administration and country this reminds you of.

  1. A collusion between the overweening state and certain favored monopolistic concerns, whereby the profits can be privatized and the debts socialized.
  2. Devalued paper currency in the international community.
  3. Kleptocracy– those in positions of influence use their time in office to maximize their own gains, always ensuring that any shortfall is made up by those unfortunates whose daily life involves earning money rather than making it.
  4. There must be no principle of accountability within the government so that the political corruption by which the Banana Republic operates is left unchecked. The members of the national legislature will be (a) largely for sale and (b) consulted only for ceremonial and rubber-stamp purposes some time after all the truly important decisions have already been made elsewhere.
  5. “a money class fleeces the banking system while the very trunk of the national tree is permitted to rot and crash”

I Just Want To Go on the Record…

// September 24th, 2009 // No Comments » // society in general

I just want to go on the record…saying that obama and his administration will do their best to shut down the Conservative Movement. Beck, Rush, the Tea-Party movement, you will most likely see it being forced underground –either completely or to some degree, in the coming months.

They would have done it already if it weren’t for that freakin Constitution thing getting in the way. You know, 1st Amendment rights and all. However, Constitution or not, they will try to shut down the opposition any way possible.

And I contend, that if they force the Conservative Voices underground, the movement will explode –exponentially. Americans will not be forced to shut-up.

Obama, here is a clue: If you want to end the millions of angry voices, start doing what’s best for America, not the unions and not your power-hungry, liberal idealogs.

Kiss Me Again: Restoring Lost Intimacy in Marriage Book Review

// September 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // Book Reviews, Relevant Faith, society in general

Kiss Me AgainIf you’ve  ever wondered why God says not to have sex before we are married, Kiss Me Again: Restoring Lost Intimacy In Marriage, by Barbara Wilson,  answers your question,  and it addresses all the obstacles women face when they decide not to wait for marriage before they have their first sexual experience. In Song of Songs 2:7, we are instructed not to “awaken love until the time is right”. Why? Because there is an actual Invisible Bond that forms when two people share a sexual encounter.

The whole gist of the book is why women, who couldn’t resist sex before they were married, now that they have tied the knot, don’t want to anymore. It talks about why that happens and what to do about it. The thing that struck me the most is the fact that there is an actual reason for it. It is something that is fixable, women don’t have to live that way.

She uses actual real-life examples. Kiss Me Again addresses different problems or obstacles that women face in their sexual relationship with their husbands and gives steps for women to follow in order to allow God to begin the healing process.

It talks about the bonds that occur when two people have sex and how it affects the marriage later on. It isn’t just an emotional bond, it is a chemical bond that can bring serious, unneeded, baggage into a marriage.

No matter what is in your sexual past, God can heal your wounds and restore you marriage. God can heal the sexual issues you are struggling with in marriage. He can reignite your desire and deepen your emotional bond with your husband. (Barbara Wilson)

I recommend this book for anyone who has the desire for a deeper “physical and emotional closeness with their mates.”

In Kiss Me Again, Wilson:

·         Shares her own story of healing and renewed desire

·         Helps women forgive themselves and their husbands for past choices

·         Shows readers how to break free from “invisible bonds”

·         Explains God’s plan for helping a husband and wife to re-bond

·         Includes conversation helps for both wives and their husbands

·         Helps couples reignite the passion that they thought was lost

Barbara Wilson is the author of The Invisible Bond and former director of sexual health education for the Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center in Sacramento. She speaks nationwide to youth and adults with her message of sexual healing, and she teaches frequently in the women’s ministry at the multi-campus Bayside Church in Northern California. Barbara and her husband, Eric, have been married for twenty-eight years.

I Exercise More Than Ever, But I’m Not Losing Weight

// August 11th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Cycling, society in general

Just the other day, Saturday to be exact, a friend and I had a discussion about exercising and weight loss. It went something like this:

Me: Dude, check this out. I’ve been riding this bike for a couple of years now but haven’t really lost any weight and I’m the same size as before.

Dude: Yeah, me too. I’ve got the same gut I’ve always had.

Me: It doesn’t make sense, but I think it’s because every time I ride, I eat like a horse afterwards. The more I exercise, the more I eat.

Dude: Makes sense to me. After we get done, you want Zesto’s fried chicken or Mexican?

Me: Probably both.

And now that I think about it, I actually did end up at a Mexican restaurant that night eating more food than any one person should be able to hold. And while I’m being honest here, I went to Sandy’s and got ice cream too –but just a little. I felt horrible after eating so much food, but I didn’t have any regrets because of the amount of exercise I just did.

Exercise

On average, from all the information I’ve read and been told, I will burn roughly 600-800 calories and hour by cycling. And that number goes up when it is hot outside, because your body has to work extra hard regulating your body heat. So, Saturday I rode for roughly 3 1/2 hours in 90 degree heat. If I do the math, I burnt roughly 2000-2800 calories, not taking into account the humidity and heat.

Eating

Saturday night, I went to Jalisco Mexican Restaurante. And, for the record, it was excelente. But, again, from what I’ve read and been told, the meal I inhaled had roughly 2000 calories in it.

Mexican Meal that contains Fajitas (1000 calories), Rice (200 calories), Beans & Cheese (250 calories) , Basket of Warm Tortilla Chips (450 calories) = 2000 calories total

My Findings

As you can see, from a nutritional, weight loss perspective, the day was a wash. I basically rode a bike just long enough to burnt off the meal I ate that night. This doesn’t take into account breakfast and lunch. My overall calorie intake was much higher than what I burnt off. Also, the next day I was still hungry. And if I ride a bike for 5 hours or more, I’ll be hungry for even longer.

It is simple, and I was right, the more I exercise the more I eat. The reason I haven’t been losing all that much weight –I have lost some— is because I’ve used my exercising as an excuse to indulge my appetite. I am getting healthier, from the standpoint of endurance and aerobic ability, but my waist size body mass hasn’t gone down much at all.

Now, again, this is my unscientific research that I’ve thrown together, but today I read an article that, unfortunately, backed up my unscientific research.

Read the article here.

Conclusion

I have to stop eating everything I find after I finish exercising. Also, when I do eat, it has to be something other than a 2000+ calorie Mexican meal. If you know my wife, as she is reading this, she is screaming at the top of her lungs, “THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN TELLING YOU FOR YEARS!”

But I know I’m not alone. I have friends and/or family members who will eat doughnuts after they finish running or walking on the track. It’s like a reward they give themselves for exercising. But of course, then they wonder why the weight isn’t just falling off.

I was under the impression that if you want to lose weight, or get healthy, just exercise. That was the magic. Unfortunately, for me at least, it isn’t. I have to learn to go against everything my body is telling me and not engorge myself on anything with sugar and transfats in it.

P.S.

While exercising, especially for anything lasting longer than an hour, you and I must make sure we are taking in carbs as we go. The body uses carbs to fuel itself as it goes. Whether you are eating gels or whatever, just be sure that you are refueling as you go or you will get sick and your body will shut down, because it is out of gas.

My rule of thumb when riding (A friend of mine, a bike shop owner and avid cyclist, taught me this) is to drink a bottle of water every hour and eat two-three gels an hour when the temperature is normal. When it is unbearably hot I’ll drink a bottle every 45 minutes and at least 3 gels an hour.

How Much is Enough?

The American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.

The Mexican replied, only a little while.

The American then asked why didn’t he stay out longer and catch more fish?

The Mexican said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs.

The American then asked, “but what do you do with the rest of your time?”

The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life.”

The American scoffed, “ I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat, and with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually, you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise.

The Mexican fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?”

To which the American replied, “15-20 years.”

“But what then?”

The American laughed and said the best part. “When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.”

“Millions?” asked the fisherman, “Then what?”

The American said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evening, sip wine and play guitar with your amigos!”

Okay, So What Does the Iran Election Mean Now?

// June 19th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Relevant Faith, society in general

A week ago or so, I read an article on either MSNBC.com, ABCNews.com or CNN.com. I keep up with all three throughout the week, but I don’t remember which one it was on. Anyway, the article was written during the campaign phase of the election in Iran. Remember when everyone was led to believe that Ahmadinejad was on his way out?

The gist of the article was this: Ahmadinejad, who is an ultra-conservative, religious, right-winger, will lose the election because the people of Iran now have the guts to throw him out of office. Why do they now have this so-called power? Because they saw America throw out their ultra-conservative, religious, right-wing dictator, Bush.

I read this article with fascination. This writer –and I sure wish I could recall who it was– was convinced that America had emboldened the people of the world to oust all conservative leaders. Because, obviously, Bush was a horrible leader who was keeping the poor people of America in slavery, and now that he was out, similar leaders would be brought to “justice”. This writer was comparing President Bush and his policies with President Ahmadinejad and his anti-Semitic self.

I could not help but read this article in disbelief. I was amazed that this popular news agency would let such obvious socialist drivel on their website, much less, publish it as an article.

So my question now is this: Since Ahmadinejad won the election by a good margin, even after people said it was rigged, what does that say about the people of Iran? And more importantly, what does that say about the people of America?

And now, what does the writer of this article do as an encore? Since his stance is obvious and his opinions are clearly misguided, he will most likely always have a job at either one of these news agencies because, like him, their stance is obvious and their opinions are clearly misguided.

Now, you may ask why I read these three websites every week if I don’t put any stock in their opinions? Zig Ziglar once said that he reads the Bible and the newspaper every day, so he can see what both sides are doing. I read MSNBC, ABCNews, CNN and FoxNews every week for the same reason. I want to see what the idiots are up to and how they are spinning the world we live in.

Book Review: Night Watchman by Mark Mynheir

// May 25th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Book Reviews, society in general

clip_image002[6]Growing up, my mom was a huge Agatha Christie fan. In fact, she may have nearly every book she ever wrote in one form or another. So from an early age, I’ve been hooked on murder mystery books and, unfortunately, TV shows as well.

So when I was given the chance to review this book, I jumped at it. My only concern was whether or not it would be too “churchy”, like a lot of Christian fiction books end up. Now, I’m all for the gospel message being presented, but it can get in the way of its self sometimes and lose the readers. Night Watchman, by Mark Mynheir, was what I hoped it would be: a good mystery with likeable, identifiable characters and a strong gospel message that wasn’t over-bearing.

Ray Quinn, the main character and ex-detective, is working as a night watchman at a condo in Orlando when a murder-suicide is discovered in one of the rooms. The two victims are a local pastor and an exotic dancer, which obviously is going to make the news. Quinn, who has avoided any police work since he was shot and forced to retire, gets involved with the case when the dead pastor’s sister asks him to clear her brother’s name.

The author, Mynheir, does a great job of telling a story that is plausible, understandable and intriguing. This book is apparently the first in a series and I look forward to reading the others when they come out.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery. It will have you guessing right up to the last pages.

You can buy the book here.

Author Bio:

A detective with the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Palm Bay Police Department, Mark Mynheir investigates violent crimes and writes riveting Christian fiction. A U.S. Marine with a passion for martial arts and firearms training, Mark has worked on narcotics units, SWAT teams, and myriad high-risk situations. His four novels offer a realistic glimpse into the gritty world of law enforcement and the rarely seen raw emotions behind the badge. Mark lives in Florida with his wife and three children.

Tanner’s Totes

// February 19th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Devotions, Relevant Faith, society in general

Every once in awhile you read a story that touches a part of you deep inside. Currently, February 18, 2009, there is a story on the front page of ESPN.com College Basketball section about a Clemson basketball player named Tanner Smith. I follow Clemson basketball very closely and I’ve watched this true freshman play this year and he has a great shot.  Having said that, that isn’t what the story in ESPN is about. It’s about his and his family’s charity to cancer patients.

Dana O’neil from ESPN writes:

The fourth-grade creative assignment was pretty straightforward: If I Had Three Wishes.

Kathy smiled as she read the first item on her son’s bucket list: a golden retriever. Ever since he met a slobbering canine friend across the street, Tanner

image

had been hounding his parents for a puppy. But with the holidays closing in, his parents already had warned him: Don’t bother asking Santa for a dog.

His second wish was to play professional basketball, hardly a surprise for a young jock like Tanner, who spent his time shuffling between the football fields, baseball diamonds and basketball courts in his Alpharetta, Ga., community

It was the third item that made Kathy stop.

“To make kids with cancer laugh,” Tanner wrote in his 9-year-old scrawl.

I don’t want to give away anymore of the story, so you need to go and read it for yourself. If you are prone to tearing up, have Kleenex handy. This story will remind you that there still is a lot of good left in people. Also, if you feel like giving to this awesome organization, you can visit it at www.tannerstotes.com
