I’m learning and we’ll see where we are a year from now or 5 years from now. But in the mean time, I’m going to celebrate my 1,134 visits.
I want to give a special thanks to all of my loyal followers. I’ll keep writing nonsense if you keep reading it.

I’ve been thinking lately, as usual, and I’ve been trying to come up with the Ultimate Road Trip Song List. Heidi, the boys and I leave Christmas day for our annual 11 hour trip up I95 to New Jersey, and was wondering what the best music would be for the trip. I’ve made this trip a thousand times but I always run out of good music about half way there. And if I get stuck in D.C. traffic, which usually happens, then I run out even sooner.

So here is my question: What are the best road trip songs?

I like Buffet. I’ve got a cd with the best of Buffet on it. I could listen to Buffet all day, which I have before. Favorite Buffet song, you ask? School Boy Heart. Most of you have probably never even heard of it. Next would be One Particular Harbor. I guess I am a sentimental at heart.

My wife, on the other hand, is not a die-hard Buffet fan. She prefers Fergie and Timbaland or Timberland (whatever that is). But I am a man of culture and fairly open-minded, so I want to broaden my horizons, learn something new. So tell me, what are some other songs that might be good.

I want to hear from you, the people. Give me some good songs or artists to put on my iPod for the twelve day journey to nowhere.

Don’t you hate all of the packaging and twist-tie things that come in the toys today. I missed most of last Christmas because I was holed up in the corner with a saws-all, scissors, chisel, hammer and blow torch trying to get my kids toys out of the freakin box. It is ridiculous, but there appears to be an answer. Amazon has come up with Frustration-Free Packaging.

The Frustration-Free Package (on the left) is recyclable and comes without excess packaging materials such as hard plastic clamshell casings, plastic bindings, and wire ties. It’s designed to be opened without the use of a box cutter or knife and will protect your product just as well as traditional packaging (on the right). Products with Frustration-Free Packaging can frequently be shipped in their own boxes, without an additional shipping box.

There is a whole list of things that are offered with Frustration-Free Packaging. So, for your kids next birthday or this Christmas, perhaps you can enjoy it and your wife won’t have to tell your kids not use bad language like daddy.

Emily Wither wrote an aritcle on ABCnews.com about the Blogging Ten Commandments. According to the article, which can be read in full here, the Evangelical Alliance has come up with a Ten Commandments for church bloggers. The internet is mostly unregulated and anyone can post anything they want without fear of reprisal, because they do it anonymously. The Blogging Ten Commandments sets out guidelines for making sure believers are living out their faith online just like they are expected to do anywhere else.

I think it is an awesome idea. I don’t think we should check our responsibility as a believer at the door when we login. We have to keep in mind who we represent.

You can read the full article from the Evangelical Alliance here.

The Blogging Ten Commandments, according to the Evangelical Alliance:

You shall not put your blog before your integrity.

You shall not make an idol of your blog.

You shall not misuse your screen name by using your anonymity to sin.

Remember the Sabbath day by taking one day off a week from your blog.

Honour your fellow-bloggers above yourselves and do not give undue significance to their mistakes.

You shall not murder someone else’s honour, reputation or feelings.

You shall not use the web to commit or permit adultery in your mind.

You shall not steal another person’s content.

You shall not give false testimony against your fellow-blogger.

You shall not covet your neighbour’s blog ranking. Be content with your own content.

I love trying new web browsers. Maybe it is because I’m a guy, but I’m sure there are lot of women out there who are the same way. We like new stuff. Period.

I like Chrome so far, especially because of the single address bar for links and searches. In Firefox, your Google search engine bar is separate from where you type in web addresses. In Chrome they are one in the same, nice. Also, you can open multiple pages at start up. Also, it is very minimalistic, on purpose I think. It doesn’t have a bunch of bars and tabs cluttering up everything. It isn’t intrusive.

Having said all of that, it is a little buggy and still needs some work. I hope it isn’t in beta mode forever.

The first annoying thing is the fact that it won’t let me login to my blog. Ironic, huh?

Secondlby, the task bar, or start bar, for Windows is disabled. I have my task bar set to hide and when you are running Chrome it disables it. So that means you have to minimize Chrome in order to use it. That is a serious pain if you have 5 things open and you are copying and pasting stuff and you keep having to minimize and … you get the picture.

Thirdly, is the home page. If you notice when you first start it, the home page button is gone. You can get it back but you have to click on the options tab and set it. The default is for the home page button to be gone.

Also, there is no Print button. You can right click anywhere on the browser and click print, but there is no button. I actually added a button to my bookmarks tab, but it isn’t the same.

I’ve got a feeling there will be some changes, as is normal, in upcoming releases.

So for now, Chrome has potential, but that is it. Hopefully they will work out the kinks.

You see, Heidi has had a Facebook page for sometime now. That was her thing, blogging was mine, but recently she started a blog. It was kind of frustrating for her at first because she didn’t know what to write and not many people were coming to it; and the ones that did were coming through a link on mine.

Well, that has changed. She is apparently writing on stuff that other women find interesting and I’m getting left in the dust. Actually, I thought about just shutting my blog down and never writing anything again. But then I started thinking, “What would Jesus do?” Just kidding, it just seemed to fit.

So I’ve decided my blog will have nothing but naked women, cars and links to free beer. That has to work right?

Besides, isn’t that what a marriage is about, Competition? I can’t just stand by and let her win like that, can I? Who is she that she should be good at something that I’m not? What does she think I’m going to do, just stand around and help her do something she really enjoys; something that is becoming a blessing to other women? Am I just going to support her blindly with no regard for my wants or needs?

Darn right. Guys, that is our job. To help our wives become everything God has created them to be, whether we ever get noticed or not. And when we start competing with them then we’ve already lost. Ask yourself, if we are to love our wives as Christ loves us, how can we not set aside ourselves for their sake?.

Now obviously I’m kidding about the blog competition, but I did have to think twice about not accidentally deleting her blog.

Back to my idea on getting my blog more noticed…check back soon…just don’t tell my wife.

This new theme is called Arthemia and is great. It is very customizable and easy to use. You do need to know how to work with Custom Fields a little, but really that is it. I’ve chopped out some of the sidebar stuff and tweaked the bottom, but overall this is exactly how it came downloaded. If you host your own WordPress Blog then this might be for you. If nothing else, at least check it out.

You are probably wondering what this picture has to do with anything. The answer is…nothing. At lest, not really. I took this picture at Ginnie Springs, Florida last year. We’ve been there a bunch of times to dive and camp, can’t beat it.
